About me:
Hi, I’m Julie. I’m a spiritual director for those who are seeking deeper connection with the Holy in their everyday life, especially those who are seeking outside of a specific religious background, those who are living with grief, and those who are caregivers.
I’m also a chaplain with over a decade of experience who is passionate about helping people develop their innate capacity to listen to the invitational summons of the Still, Small Voice and notice the small graces in everyday life.
I’m a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Grief Counselor-Certified (not clinical or licensed mental health expert, but I would be glad to refer you to one). In previous chapters of my life, i’ve been a lifeguard, pool operator, swim coach and swim lesson instructor, a youth minister, and a marching band woodwind technician (and still do this every fall with a local high school!).
I’m a graduate of The Haden Institute’s Spiritual Direction Certification program and am currently enrolled in their Dreamwork Certification program. In addition, I have my Masters of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, a Bachelors of Music in Music Education (flute and voice) and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Longwood University.
My husband Jeff and I live in Virginia, where he serves as a hospital chaplain.
When I’m not companioning folks, I enjoy spending time with people I love, reading, collaging, writing, playing flute in the local pops band, and taking photos with my iPhone when I get excited about the little things around me.
I look forward to connecting with you.
